Reading a Grease Spec Like a Buyer
One warning that saves seized joints: thickener compatibility. Lithium-complex and calcium-sulfonate tolerate each other moderately; polyurea and others mix badly, and incompatible blends soften into runny failure. When switching grease families, purge each point until fresh grease shows.

Grease daily where the book says daily — in Saudi dust, the interval is a maximum, not a suggestion. Pump until clean grease purges, wipe fittings before and after, and replace broken zerks on sight (a blocked zerk is an ungriased joint wearing right now). Auto-Lube: The System That Never Forgets
Central lubrication systems — Lincoln, Groeneveld, BEKA and others — pump measured grease to every point while the machine works. Uptime data is unambiguous: pin and bushing life extends 40%+ because grease arrives in small frequent doses instead of weekly floods. The systems themselves need parts: pump elements and motors, metering injectors/distributor blocks (one blocked injector starves one joint silently — walk the points monthly and check for purge collars), lines and fittings that chafe and harden in heat, and reservoir filters. Fill reservoirs from sealed cartridges or filtered transfer pumps; contaminated grease distributed automatically is a failure multiplier, not a saving.
